Reasons Not To Practice Chair Yoga And Why They Are Wrong

Those who can sit in a chair can benefit from exercising chair yoga. Unfortunately, there are many reasons people give to not do the chair yoga. Almost all of these reasons are due to misunderstandings. This article will clarify the most common reasons why people are reluctant to consider yoga.

I am too old to do yoga.

People of all ages practice yoga at the moment. Classes are usually aimed at seniors, with the average age of most who are 70-something. We have had students in the 90 is.

I have health issues.

Most of the chair yoga courses have health problems, and many are there because a healthcare professional who knows about their problems recommended it. A good word yoga teacher will ask about and be aware of any limitations you may have. Chair yoga has helped our students with symptoms of many health problems including high blood pressure, anxiety, fatigue, arthritis, dizziness, multiple sclerosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, depression and chronic pain to name just a few conditions.

I am not flexible enough to do yoga.

Stologoga classes are NOT designed for hard 20 somethings that can make poses that look impossible. Many who start with a yoga class in the chair have problems with flexibility, and your teacher will help to modify the situations that hold it. Your flexibility will be better and better every day you practice yoga chair.

I do not have time.

We all take time for what is important, and what is more important than your health? If you regularly exercise your chair yoga, you will have more energy and be more efficient, and will be able to make it much more done. You will feel better while you go on your busy schedule as well.

I will feel uncomfortable in class.

The people who go to the chair yoga classes are all likely to either feel the effects of aging, have health problems, or both, so you probably will not stand out for these reasons. All yoga courses, not just the chair yoga courses, have people with varying levels of experience and ability, so yoga instructors are specially trained to help everyone feel good about their progress, no matter what level they are. A good instructor will take a position step by step and at any time say something like this may be your position today, giving you explicit permission to stop when your body says to quit.

I would not look good at any of the small yoga machines.

Usually, the students in a chair yoga class do NOT wear special yoga clothes. Some may come to the class with sweat, while many only wear removable, comfortable street clothes.

I do not want to buy a lot of special equipment.

While it is true that there are entire catalogs that are full of yoga equipment, the only shock you really need a chair is. Sometimes the student needs to raise his feet slightly, but things that you can find around the house, like a phone book, can be used for this purpose. If you practice in a class environment, the studio or sponsor usually supplies some supplies used in the class.

I do not know where to go.

Ask about the chair yoga at yoga studios, gyms, community centers, YMCA or YWCA. Search the internet on chair yoga plus the name of your metropolitan area. If you are in the pension fund, ask the activity director. If it does not work, there are some videos available.

I do not want to learn a new language.

Yoga originates in a part of the world where the language was called Sanskrit, and most bags have a Sanskrit name. In traditional yoga courses, the instructors refer to their Sanskrit name. However, the chair yoga instructors often do not use Sanskrit names for the poses, and if they do, they usually also speak English. You will carefully hear the terms as forward weight.

Yoga can be in conflict with my religion.

Historically, yoga meant that it was a total lifestyle, but very few people practicing yoga in the western world are writing about it. Most people in our society are involved in yoga for physical and mental fitness. This is especially true for those in a chair yoga program, so most yoga instructors do not underline the spiritual aspects of yoga.
